Legal runners to raise funds for Asbestos Support West Midlands

Share

Access Legal employees Sara Hunt and Kirsty Collins will be putting on their running shoes and taking part in the Great Midlands Fun Run on 6 June 2010 to raise money for Asbestos Support West Midlands.

The charity helps people suffering from asbestos related disease, and their families, by providing free and confidential support to people and their families. Victims can endure terrible pain and hardship, whilst families who lose loved ones are left devastated.

Thousands of people die each year from asbestos related diseases and asbestos is still the biggest work-related cause of death in the UK. From the time of exposure, diseases can take between 15 and 40 years to develop.

Associate and asbestos specialist Sara Hunt said: "I'm privileged to be raising funds for Asbestos Support West Midlands.

"People are mistaken if they think asbestos is a danger from the past. For many, its effects are only now being felt, many years after they were exposed to it. It's vital through the work done by the support group that we highlight its continued presence in buildings, the dangers it poses, and what can be done for those already exposed to it."

Access Legal will be matching sponsorship money raised by the pair.
