She successfully obtained her Fellowship of the Institute of Legal Executives whilst studying for her A-Levels and before she decided to read Law & Criminology BA Law (Hons) at The University of Sheffield, followed by the Legal Practice Course at the Nottingham Law School.
Shabnum joined Freeth Cartwright LLP in 2007, as a trainee solicitor and re-joined their Medical Negligence Department in 2009, upon her qualification as a Solicitor. Whilst at Freeth Cartwright LLP Shabnum worked with nationally renowned Claimant clinical negligence lawyer Paul Balen.
Shabnum has specialised solely in clinical negligence since 2009 and joined the Medical Negligence team of Access Legal from Shoosmiths in 2010. Shabnum acts solely for patients and their families and manages a diverse range of clinical negligence claims involving minor injuries through to Fatal Accidents and maximum severity claims. Shabnum has settled claims for clients with values ranging from several thousand to six figure sums.
Shabnum has experience in dealing with claims arising from a wide variety of clinical circumstances, but her current main focus of work relates to Fatal Accident Claims including birth injuries leading to infant death, death by suicide and still-birth.
Shabnum has also gained considerable experience in dealing with claims funded through BTE legal expenses insurance, public funding (legal aid) in addition to conditional fee agreements (“no-win no fee” agreements) linked to ATE.

Outside of work, Shabnum is a keen traveller and enjoys exploring new destinations and experiencing different cultures. She regularly plays badminton and enjoys canoeing. For relaxation she enjoys reading and socializing.
